Suzanne E. Habada

Suzanne Elizabeth Habada, age 81, passed away surrounded by her family in her beloved home on the banks of the Wisconsin River on Saturday, October 3, 2026. She was born on September 7th 1945 to the late Charles and Delores (Lockwood) Royston, and graduated from Mazomanie High School in 1964. That same year, on September 24, she married Ludwig "Lud" Habada. They shared more than 61 years of marriage before Lud's passing on May 28, 2026, and together they raised their family in their cherished home.

Before she had a family of her own, Suzanne showed the grit and perseverance that would define her, helping to raise her siblings and remaining a shelter for them whenever they needed one. Her family was her entire world. She loved her husband Lud with fierce, unwavering loyalty and could never tell her children and grandchildren often enough how much she loved them. So many in the family have said the same thing: she loved them more than anyone ever could. Family and friends alike called her "Mother," a role she treasured with her whole heart. Her warm, gentle and genuine spirit drew people close, and she never missed a birthday, holiday or anniversary without a card and a phone call.

For most of her life, Suzanne devoted herself to her home and family with tremendous pride. She loved creating beautiful things with her "tools," her own two hands, through sewing, wreaths, bows and floral bouquets. Her home was filled with her arrangements and seasonal displays, and every holiday was more magical under her touch, especially Christmas, when her immaculate trees were the highlight. Her Czech dumplings and potato salad will remain part of family celebrations for generations to come.

With a natural green thumb, Suzanne loved volunteering at local greenhouses and flower shops. Once her children were grown, she was so proud to become a manager for Lancôme cosmetics, a natural fit for a woman of her style and grace. She was thrilled to earn her own money, which she happily spent on her favorite pastime: shopping!

Suzanne was happiest in the sunshine by the water, whether at the ocean or out on the boat in the Midwest. At home, her tender heart was extended to animals of every kind. She cared for the wildlife and feral cats outside her door, volunteered at the humane society, brought home many rescue animals, and prepared fresh meals for every animal in her care. Suzanne was stunning, inside and out: a devoted wife, cherished mother and grandmother, loving daughter, sister and aunt.

There will never be another woman like her. Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but the love and traditions she created will remain woven into the lives of all who loved her. We love you, Mother. Thank you for the extraordinary gift of you. Because of you, we will all love others more deeply, and in that way, your love will live on.

Suzanne will be deeply missed by her children; Michael (Alexandra), Matthew (Mandie) and Michelle (Anthony); her stepdaughters, Lynn (Jeff) and Lori; her cherished grandchildren, Michael, Jacquelyn, Jasmine, Darrin, Nina, Matthew, Angela, Kayla, Talia, Savannah, Amber, Paula and Rodrigo; her beloved great-grandchildren; her very special niece Heather, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Lud; Suzanne was preceded in death by her brothers, John "Jack" Royston, Chuck Feril Royston, Robert Charles Royston and Thomas Clark Royston; and her sister, Cheryl Meril Jenkins. A visitation for Suzanne will be held at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water Street, Sauk City, on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The celebration of Suzanne's life will continue at the Dorf Haus immediately following. A private family interment will be held at Garden Bluff Cemetery in West Point Township.

Suzanne’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to Agrace Hospice and to the many relatives and friends who supported them with love, prayers and kindness. A very special thank-you goes to Suzanne's beloved niece, Heather Monge, and her daughter, Alegria, who spent the final month caring for Suzanne with extraordinary love and devotion. The family will be forever grateful.
