Obituary

Theodore Ralph Larsen, age 93, joined the love of his live, Millie, on Thursday, December 28, 2023.  Theodore (Ted), son of Howard and Laura (Wolkow) Larsen, was born in Shell Lake, Wisconsin on June 3, 1930.  Ted was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mildred (Millie) Coy on September 10, 1955.

Ted and Millie's marriage of 61 years remains a true love story for the ages that only ended when Millie left us on February 25, 2017.  Their incredible partnership and love will transcend this lifetime and is an inspiration to all who witnessed it.  When Ted left those of us here, he joined Millie in heaven – making him the happiest man anywhere.

Ted enjoyed farming with his Dad and later with Millie.  Remembering his farm days was a joy for Dad –he shared his experiences with all he met.  He was especially fond of talking about his cow-dog Rusty – Rusty never bit a tail, always did as he was told and protected his family.  Dad also loved sharing memories of Princess, the last pampered pooch he and Mom had.

As their family grew, Ted began driving semi where he enjoyed seeing much of the United States and parts of Canada.  After years of driving, Ted took a position at Springs Window fashions to be able to stay home with his family.

During all of this, many Springs, Summers and Falls were spent in the woods cutting trees and preparing for long, cold winters – we all appreciated his hard work when that wood furnace was lit each year!  His children and grandchildren made many memories cutting wood with Dad/Grandpa.  Helping in the woods, loading and unloading trailers of wood and stacking in the basement were rights of childhood!  Summers were also for the garden – pulling weeds and gathering vegetables – and if you were really good, you got to drive the Avery while Dad/Grandpa would guide the walking plow.

During retirement, Ted and Millie took a memorable cruise and train adventure to and through Alaska.  This trip was one of Dad's most treasured memories – especially enjoying that special time with Mom.  Looking at the pictures and talking about that trip always made Dad happy.  Showing Mom, the many places he had seen while driving semi was a joy for Dad – he loved being with Mom.

Ted is survived by daughters, Barbara Gabbei; Nancy (Kim) Crary and son-of-his-heart, Steven (Tina) Kellerhuis.  He is further survived by grandchildren, Nathan Crary, Amanda (Trent) Scanlon, Cassandra Kenworthy and Angela Gabbei; his 'Man' great-grandson, Montana Kenworthy; sibling Mary Jean (Robert) Peterson and siblings-in-law, Marion (Dorothy) Coy and Mary (John) Brown; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; Millie's parents, (Loren and Freda Coy); an infant brother; brothers, Tom (Elaine) Larsen, Howard Larsen Jr and Ted's identical twin brother, Edward (Marlene) Larsen; sisters, Clara (Robert) Klemm and Lucile (Wesley) Kuntz; and other family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First United Church of Christ, 504 Washigton Ave., Sauk City on Saturday, March 16, 2024.  Time to visit with Ted's family will begin at 10 am followed by the Memorial Service at 11 am.
