Therese Marie Bauer, age 84, died on Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born July 21, 1924, in Munich Germany to the late Hans and Lina (Illing) Bauer. Therese was an accomplished singer and pianist; a skill she had learned from her mother. She graduated from the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee and also studied on scholarship at Lawrence Conservatory of Music in Appleton and the UW-Madison Music School. Therese performed at numerous concerts and also performed on radio and television programs. She was a voice teacher at the Madison School of Music for many years. In 1987, she was awarded the Silver Premiere Cup in the North London Musical Festival in London, England. Therese was always willing to help people in trouble. She donated her time and money to many charitable causes, including helping three families in Guatemala send their children to school. She is survived by a brother, John (Delores) Bauer of Conyers Ga.; a sister-in-law, Pat Bauer of Madison; two nieces, Jackie (Mark) Shanahan of Madison and Lori (Joe) Chrnelich of Brookfield; three nephews, Phillip Bauer of Conyers, Ga., Jeffrey (Charlotte) Bauer of Conyers, Ga. and Greg (Tamara) Welsh of McFarland. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Bauer. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at ST. BARNABAS CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mazomanie, with Fr. John DelPriore officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Barnabas Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
