Obituary

Thomas Vincent Borman,age 73, died peacefully on September 9, 2008 with his family by his side after a long battle with heart disease and COPD. He was born to Cecil and Mary (Shackleton) Borman at the family farm on Palm Sunday, April 14, 1935 or like he used to say, "a bird pooped him on a rock and the sun hatched him out. Tom graduated from Black Earth High School in 1953 and joined the U.S. Army where he served as a Morse Code Intercept Operator. After his tour, he moved to Chicago and worked for Western Electric. He moved back to Wisconsin to be near his family and in July, 1961 he met the love of his life, Cathy Lawler at the St. Barnabas Parish Picnic and they were married on February 10, 1962. His goal in life was to be a great father which he accomplished with his three children, Erin (Tom) Stoeger of Manitowoc, Theresa (Joel) Bradley of Sauk City and Andy of New Lisbon. He carried on the legend as the most wonderful grandfather to, Scott (Kellie) Stoeger, Bridget (John Dollar) Bradley, Christopher Stoeger, Paul Bradley, Katie Stoeger, David Bradley, Alexandra Borman and Hannah Borman. Along with his wife, children and grandchildren, he is survived by his siblings, Mike (Janet) Borman of Mazomanie,
Gene (Loretta) Borman of Madison, Bob Borman of Janesville and Kay Orth of Montrose, Colorado; his in-laws, Douglas Lawler of Abingdon, Virginia, Robert (Shari) Lawler of Lake Placid, Florida, Donald (Ruth) Lawler of Mazomanie and Lyndon (Barb) Lawler of Souix Falls, SD; and
many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his beautiful infant grandson, Timothy Stoeger; his parents; a brother, Bill Borman and Bill's wife, Beverly; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gladys and Verne Lawler; brother-in-law, Gayle Lawler and sister-in-law, Myrna Lawler. Tom was an avid fisherman and hunter until his health prevented his participation. He was always known to be at the TV or radio watching or listening to any sports event but especially those of the Brewers, Packers and Badgers games. He also enjoyed and was proud to be a part of the grandparents window seats at the Sauk Prairie hockey games where he watched his grandsons play. He always enjoyed going to the children and grandchildrens extra-curricular activities. Tom was an active member of St. Barnabas Parish in Mazomanie where he was a Lecture and Communion Minister. He was an active member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus at St. Barnabas. He was an active member of the Dane County American Legion, Greening-Beulow Post #437 of Mazomanie, Dane County 40 et 8, Grand Voiture du Wisconsin where he served as Grand Chef De Gare. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 10:30AM at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, Mazomanie with Fr. John DelPriore officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, Sept. 12 at Hooverson Funeral Home, highway 14, west, Mazomanie. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the VA Hospital who worked hard to help him through this illness. A special thank-you to the nurses of the SICU for your loving care and friendship. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials. GO PACKERS!
