Thomas M. McCarthy, age 79, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at UW Hospital, Madison. He was born June 12, 1933, the son of the late Charles and Teckla (Whier) McCarthy. He was united in marriage to Audrey Brockman on September 12, 1959 at St. James Catholic Church in Vesper, WI. Tom graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for 41 years. Tom was known for his cooking and baking. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and boating on Lake Wisconsin.


He is survived by his wife, Audrey; five children, Mike (Barb), Pat (Edie), Rob (Jennifer), Kevin (Colleen), and Colleen (Rob) Scheibel; and 13 grandchildren, John, Samantha, Sean, Katie, Charlie, Aiden, Megan, Matthew, Kieran, Keegan, Emma, William, and Kera. He is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, Baraboo, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Saturday.
