Obituary

Thomas A. "Tom" Thomson, age 78, of Prairie du Sac, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on December 15, 2025, at UW Health Hospital.  Tom was born on June 3, 1947 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the son of Ardeal and Vivian (Lhotte) Thomson. He graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1966, where he won awards in Chemistry and went on to continue his education at UW–Green Bay.

Tom was united in marriage to Rebecca A. (Becky) Christianson on February 24, 1968, and moved to Sauk City, where he attended UW–Madison, and later, MATC. He went on to build a long career at GE Healthcare, retiring after 35 years in 2009.

Tom was an avid Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan, he could often be found watching the game with his wife or daughter Danielle, and always tried to attend all of his grandchildren's sporting events. He was also a huge supporter of women's hockey and volleyball. He was very creative and had a wide range of interests; this included coin collecting, metal detecting, thrifting, jewelry making/stones, deer hunting, computers, and anything science related. He enjoyed camping, identifying plants, and berry picking. He especially looked forward to Friday night Fish Frys at the Stumble Inn with his wife, and treasured the time they spent snow birding on Fort Myers Beach.

Many knew Tom as the local bicycle repairman, as he operated Tom's Bicycle Clinic out of his home for many years. Others affectionately called him "Governor," a nickname inspired by his name's likeness to a well-known local politician. On the CB radio, he was known as "Greybeard," and in the amateur radio community as N9LLF.

Above all, Tom was known for his kind heart and willingness to help others—especially those who were struggling—always without question or judgment. Tom's final act of kindness was giving the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. He held deep respect for education and lifelong learning and was constantly reading, researching, and taking classes on an alphabet of topics ranging from tornado spotting to genealogy.

Tom is survived by his wife, Rebecca; his children, Michelle (Robert) Thomson Henry, Mark Thomson, Danielle (Brad) Booth, and Brandi Thomson; his sister, Sharon Koehne; sisters-in-law Susan Maines, Karen (Tom) Monasky, and Julie (Wayne) Adair; grandchildren Justin (Meghan) Henry, Colton Henry, Logan (Ashlyn) Henry, Zachary (Vanessa) Thomson, Sharon (Zach) Luebke, and Silas Harrison; great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Hudson, Buckley, Adler, and Riley; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Delore and Alice (Gough) Christianson; and brothers-in-law Calvin Christianson and Fred Koehne.
