Obituary

Trudy Lynn Hollub, age 63, passed away peacefully at University Hospital in Madison August 21, 2019 surrounded by her family.  She was born May 26, 1956 to Glenn and Janet (Mahnke) Schwalbe.  Trudy attended Manitowoc Lincoln High School graduating in 1974.  She and David J Hollub were united in marriage on June 16, 1979 at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc, WI.  Trudy worked in Claims for several insurance companies over her career and lastly with NSI- A Division of West Bend Mutual Insurance as a Claims Supervisor,  "where she helped clients and workers find the Silver Lining" for the past 13 years.  Trudy was an avid outdoor enthusiast and with her "try anything once" attitude she had many hobbies and interests.  Camping, hiking, kayaking, bicycling, and traveling were among her favorite things to do.  Trudy's family enjoyed motorcycling including supporting Eric's motocross racing and riding her own CanAm Spyder.  She and David enjoyed many trips on their motorcycles - the Black Hills and around the Great Lakes were favorite trips.  Trudy had a love of dogs. She and David bred and raised Labradors and most recently she trained and competed in dock diving with her beloved Lab "Goose".

Trudy is survived by her husband David of rural Sauk City; son Eric (Rhiannon Ross) Hollub of Milwaukee; her parents Glen and Janet Schwalbe of Manitowoc; 5 siblings, Laurie (Charles) Rathsack, Andrea Schwalbe, Glenn (Tami) Schwalbe, Mark (Sandra) Schwalbe, Chris (Rochelle) Schwalbe; mother-in-law Earline Hollub; sisters and brother-in-laws, Greg (Diane) Hollub, Debbie (James) Surges, Dana (Robert) Dabroski, and Darcy (Chris Guns) Hollub.  Trudy is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law Kenneth Hollub, paternal grandparents, Everett and Verona Schwalbe; maternal grandparents Verona Van Erem and Marcus Mahnke.

As per Trudy's wishes a Celebration of her Life will be held on Sunday October 13, 2019 from 2:30 to 7 pm at the Wern Valley Sportsman Club, S36 W29657 Wern Way, Waukesha, WI 53189.

Trudy's family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the many healthcare professionals in both the TLC and the Palliative Care units at UW Hospital in Madison and the many co-workers, friends, and family who have helped with their words of encouragement.

As Trudy had a love of animals, Trudy's family asks that memorials be made towards the Pet Care & Assistance Fund which is a foundation to assist pet owners in need of Emergency Veterinary Services.  Trudy's Goose spent numerous days in treatment at VCA -Veterinary Emergency Service last fall and it broke Trudy's heart seeing people making a decision to not treat a sick pet because of financial shortfalls.
