Verna M. Gorder, age 92, died on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born in Spring Green on July 10, 1917, the daughter of the late Clarence and Rose (Kopps) Richardson. She was united in marriage to Peter G. Gorder on July 10, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1989. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac.

She is survived by a son, Douglas (Debra) Gorder of Eugene, OR; two daughters, Donna (Lester) Nachreiner of Sauk City and Lila Laufenberg of Prairie du Sac, a brother, Damon (Joyce) Richardson of Spring Green; three sisters, Vera Armstrong of Darlington, Violet Pronold of Spring Green, and Velma Lochman of Arena; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Adrian and Claire Julson; son-in-law, James Laufenberg; brother, Owen; and great-grandson, Nick Anderson.

A funeral service will be held at ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, Prairie du Sac, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009 with Pastor Fred Rilling officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery. Friends may call at the church, one hour prior to the service.
