Verna Luella Wenzel, age 96, passed away peacefully at Reedsburg Medical Center on Dec. 18, 2020. She was born at home in Sauk Co. on Christmas Day 1923 to the late William R. and Luella E. (Schullenberger) Jensen. She graduated from Prairie du Sac High School, Class of 1941, and went on to Milwaukee State Teachers College where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1945. Verna taught and worked as a teacher for over 30 years at Menomonee Falls School System, Burlington, Sherman School of Madison Metropolitan School System, Gompers, and Hartland. She received her Master's Degree in Reading from University of Wisconsin Madison in 1975 and held a Reading Specialist license.

Verna's interests included birdwatching, tap dancing, cross-stitching and crocheting, playing the piano, reading, traveling, volunteering, attending church, and spending time with family.

She was united in marriage to William W. Wenzel on Oct. 6 ^th , 1944, and they enjoyed 66 years together before Bill preceded her in death on July 25, 2011.

She is survived by her son, William F. Wenzel, two granddaughters, Alexandra and Sonja Wenzel.

She was preceded in death by her son Peter Wenzel.

A Memorial Service with Interment in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery will take place at a later date.
