Vernon Ervin Richmond, age 88, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2011, surrounded by his family.
Vernon was born on October 12, 1922, in Racine, WI, the son of Elmer and Marie (Guth) Richmond. He graduated from Racine Horlick High School. He was a U.S. Veteran having served in Europe during World War II. Following the war , while attending the University of Wisconsin, he met the love of his life, Charleen Chrisler. They married on December 20, 1947. After graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Vernon was employed by Ohio Chemical.Through several company changes , Vernon retired from Ohmeda in 1984. After raising their family in Madison, Vernon and Charleen moved to a house they had built on the Chrisler Family Farm, overlooking Lake Wisconsin in West Point. Vernon enjoyed raising vegetables, mowing the large lawn and taking care of the swimming pool for the grandchildren.


He is survived by four sons, Douglas (Sharon), Gary (Laura), Bruce (Sandy) all of Lodi and Scott (Annette) of Stoughton.
Nine grandchildren , Heather (Brian) Bellford, Jessica, Tammi, Wesley (Jill), Daniel, Breanna (Matt), Krista, Jada and Halle.
Three great grandchildren: Devyn, Trystan and Jalyn.
A sister and brother in law, Sharon and Tom Nielson.
A sister in law: Janette Chrisler.
many nieces , nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by by his wife Charleen, his parents , brother and sister in law, Charles an Ann Richmond, and a sister Virginia. The family would like to thank the staff of Maplewood for the special care given to Vernon.


A memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday , September 17, 2011 at the HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City with Pastor Dwight Pulsfus officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held in the Garden Bluff Cemetery, following the service.
