Obituary

Virginia "Jim" Comp, age 89, died on December 17, 2009 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City. She was born on November 13, 1920 in Plain, the daughter of the late Otto and Pearl (Hemberger) Grauvogl. She attended St. Luke's Catholic School. She moved to Milwaukee after completing her schooling, where she met the love of her life, Vernon Comp. They married and lived in the Milwaukee area until they retired. Upon retirement, they moved to Port Richey, FL and enjoyed many years there. They loved the warm weather and spent their time volunteering, biking, and enjoying the outdoors. "Jim" was widowed in 2000 and moved back to Wisconsin shortly thereafter. She made many friends here and was always happy to meet someone from her home town. She had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed everyone who had a few minutes to visit with her and was always ready with a smile. That smile will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved niece and nephew, Sheila and LeRoy Bills of Prairie du Sac; special great-niece, Lisa (Tim) Peterson of Smithfield, VA; special great-nephew, Kurt (Cindy) Bills of Rosemount, MN; their children; and a sister, Esther Ratzlaff of Germantown. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Lavern and Florian; and two sisters, Ruby Fondell and Irene Grauvogl. Honoring her wishes, a private memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain, at a later date.

Jim's family would like to thank all of the staff at Pine Glen and Pine Villa for the wonderful care received there. Dr. Scott Ensminger at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital was not only her favorite physician but a trusted person who she was so glad to have in her life. Thank you all. Your kindness and compassion for Aunt Jim will never be forgotten.
