Sauk City/Portage, WI – Virginia Stowers, age 95, born August 31, 1919, died peacefully at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie on Tuesday, July 21st, 2015 with her son by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman C., parents William and Margaret Ferrie, and all 5 siblings.
Virginia was born and raised in Portage, WI. It was here that she married Norm and raised their family. Retirement years were spent in Portage and Pinellas Park, Florida. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Presbyterian Church, Railroad Wives Club and the Portage Country Club. Virginia loved to garden and spend time with her many grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Barbara Coffman, Largo, Florida - children Jeff (Trish) and Shari; David Stowers, San Diego, California - children Bobbi and Monique; Constance (Jim Nelson), Madison, Wisconsin - children Andrea and Bryan (Lisa); and Bill (Cathy) Merrimac, WI – children Erik (Lauren) and Kristin; countless nieces and nephews and her dear friend Phyllis Hazelwood.
The family would like to thank Maplewood Village for their continued support over the last 4 years. Virginia thought of you all as her extended family.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent De Paul, Prairie du Sac, WI.
