Obituary

Wayne A. Schulz, age 76, Sauk City, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Maplewood Sauk Prairie. Wayne is the son of Gilbert and Mildred (Miller) Schulz, born on September 4, 1939, in Sauk City, Wisconsin.

He is survived by his sister, Janet (Schulz) Anderson and his brother, Keith (Sharon) Schulz.

Wayne was actively involved in sports, starting with playing baseball on the Sauk City Indian Midget baseball team at ten years of age. After graduating 8th grade from the Sauk City public schools, he continued his athletic ability on the high school and baseball teams. The high school basketball squad was tri-county conference champs and placed 4th at the Sectional; winnings continued and culminated to third place at the State Basketball Tournament in 1957! In addition, that spring, his team placed 3rd at state in baseball.

He is further survived by his six nieces, Sherry Anderson , Sheila Anderson, Shawn Anderson, Shanalee Carden, Brittany Hopper, and Jessica Holiday. In addition, he is survived by his great nieces and nephews, Derek Carden, Devin Carden, JaTame Carden, Drew Carden, Justin Riek, Cady Dorsey, Maggie Holiday, and Molly Holiday. He is also survived by one special great great nephew, Drey Carden.

Upon graduating high school, Wayne was employed at Steel Forms for many years, Gallaghers, and lastly, Spellman Monument. After 11 years at Spellman Monument, he retired and continued his hobbies, especially his sports enthusiasm.

In later years, Wayne enjoyed being outside his Madison Street apartment and waving to passersby; and having many friends stop and discuss yarns of yesterday!

Wayne was predeceased by his brother in law, Les Anderson, and his beloved grandparents, Jacob and Anna (Bohnsack) Miller, and George and Ida (Lopau) Schulz.

Per Wayne's wishes, his cremains will later be interred at the Sauk City Cemetery and a private service will be held under the auspices of Pastor Bill Kapp.

The family wishes to thank all of Wayne's friends, including Bill Bishop, Tom Marx, and Andy Curt.
