Obituary

Webster W. "Web" Schwanke, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Pine Villa in Prairie du Sac.  He was born in Honey Creek Township on December 19, 1923, the son of the late Walter and Paula (Martin) Schwanke.  He was united in marriage to Jean Meske in 1947.  She preceded him in death in 1962.  Web was a lifetime farmer in Honey Creek and was able to live independently until this past December.  He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Leland, the Honey Creek Rod & Gun Club, and the Sauk Prairie Community Club.

He is survived by 4 children, Dale (Deb) of Janesville, Eileen Muchow of Leland, Debra (Lauren) Gagner of Minneapolis, and Sue Ann (TJ Ballweg) Schwanke of Sauk Prairie; 5 grandchildren, Daphne (Steve) Knox, Darrin (Andrea), Dawn (Phil) Portzen, Rebecca (Bill) LeFevre, and Alison (Sky) Ogren; 7 great grandchildren, Nathan, Kelsie, Hunter, Colby, Courtney, Brice, and Kendra; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond; and two sisters, Era Jaedike and LaVera Yanke.

A funeral service will be held at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, Leland, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014 with Pastor Erich Hartenberger officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends may call at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church or the Honey Creek Rod & Gun Club.
