Obituary

William "Bill" Emil Stamer, age 68, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2011 at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born in Chicago on January 15, 1943, the son of the late William and Dorothy (Schilke) Stamer. Bill graduated from Downers Grove, IL High School in 1962 and married his high school sweetheart, Leslynn Stuart on April 18, 1964. (He was my April love). Together they owned and operated Bill's Welding Service, a second generation family-owned business, until they retired to Wisconsin in 1993. Bill enjoyed golf and was a member of the Lake Wisconsin Country Club for over twenty years. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merrimac and was always willing to lend a hand. In addition he was a member of the Sauk Prairie Lions Club. Bill enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing, hunting, and spending time with family, especially his grandkids.


He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Leslynn: a son, William (Sheila) Stamer III of Golconda, IL: a daughter, Pamela (Steve) Hanacek of Lisle, IL; 3 grandchildren, Kaleigh and Lindsey Stamer; and Christopher Hanacek
a sister, Darlene (Cliff) Pearson of Merrimac; many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two nieces, Lenore Schueman and Sharon Bevans.


A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2011 at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Merrimac, with Pastor Joel Bradtke officiating. As per Bill's wishes, no visitation will be held. A luncheon will follow at Lake Wisconsin Country Club. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Bill's name to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Merrimac.
