William Louie Handel, age 66, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Mazomanie on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, four days before his 67th birthday. He was born Sept. 8, 1948 to the late Louie C. and Mary H. (Smith) Handel. He graduated Wisconsin Heights High School, class of 1966. Billy worked as a mechanic most of his life and was formerly employed at McFarlanes, Badger Cable and Amble Landscaping. He was an owner operator over the road truck driver and was most recently employed with A.L. Landscaping. Billy enjoyed gardening and canning; and trapped and hunted anything that walked, crawled or swam and looked forward to doing it with his family and friends.
He is survived by his 3 children, Eddie Handel of Visalia, CA; Dawn (Kirk Wipperfurth) Handel of Sauk City, Shaine (Bridget) Handel of Black Earth; 9 grandchildren, Cameron and Connor Handel, Theresa Kogue, Richard Porter Jr., Rebecca Hamus, Nathan Jessick, Tia Roelke, Mason J. and Cayden Handel; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Richard Handel of Black Earth, and David (Karen) Handel of Mazomanie; brother in-law, Jeffrey (Penny) Eveland; and special cousin and friend, Lyle Schulenburg; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Eveland and a sister in-law, Karen Handel.
A visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015 at Hooverson Funeral Home, HWY 14 West, Mazomanie, WI from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
