Obituary

Wilma A. Matz DiRienzo, age 93, died June 13, 2016 at Heartland Country Village in Black Earth. She was born in the Township Of Berry on April 18, 1923, the daughter of Erwin and Olga (Danz) Matz. She was united in marriage to Roland DiRienzo on June 7, 1977 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Marxville. Wilma graduated as salutatorian and received the Dan Madison Good Citizenship award from Mazomanie Union Free High School in 1941 and later attended Whitewater State Teachers College. She began teaching elementary school in 1942, but continued her education until she received her Bachelor of Education degree from Whitewater State Teachers College. Wilma continued teaching until she retired in 1986.


She is survived by her brother, Virgil Matz;
nieces, Carolyn (David) Mann, Deborah Brown and her children, Annalynn and Ashton, Melissa Matz and her son, Thomas Rightmire;
Sister in law, Dorothea "Dottie" Craft,
Grand niece, Alyssa Matz and her sons, Ollie and Orion,
a brother in law, Francis DiRienzo and other family members, Karen Ulrich, Ron (Audrey) Haesig, William James family, Lisa (Doug) McClung, Rachel (David) Munz and family, other relatives here and in Germany and friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roland, brother Harvey, an infant sister, infant nephew Thomas, nephew Dwight, and sisters in law Etola Matz and Irene DiRienzo.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Janelle Hupp and the staff at Heartland Country Village for the care given to Wilma.


A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Marxville, WI with Pastors Beth Schultz Byrnes and Jeff Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, Mazomanie, WI and also on Wednesday one hour prior to the service, at the church.
