Obituary

Wilmar Frederick Sprecher was born at home in Blackhawk on April 29, 1937 to the late Wilbert and Marcella Sprecher; he died at his home in Honey Creek on April 23, 2016. Wil enjoyed running having completed over 30 marathons including the Boston Marathon. His favorite run was Grandma's Marathon in Duluth. Most will remember Wil running up and down PF and Von Wald Road. Wil's Iron Man marathon was his battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. This was his final marathon he never gave up; he crossed the finish line a winner.

Wil was baptized and confirmed in the Blackhawk UM Church. He attended the Prairie Du Sac High School, UW Short Course, served in the US Army and Army Reserves. Wil was a firefighter for Madison Fire Dept, and worked 30 + years for MMHI. Wil married Marilyn Holly on April 23, 1966.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons Michael (Richard Schwandt), and Kirk (Stephanie); three special grandchildren Madeline, Sydney and Samuel. He is further survived by his brother Maurice; sisters, Karen (Paul) Ladd, and Marla; sisters and brothers in law, Kathryn Rufenacht, Ralph and Kathie Holly and Mark and Linda Holly; many nieces and nephews.

Wil was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Marcella Sprecher; his in-laws,
Henry and Esther Holly; sister and brother in law, Marlene and Donald Fuller; brother in-law Richard Holly.

A Celebration of Wil's Life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday April 29th at the Black Hawk-Bethlehem United Methodist Church., S. 10174 Cty. Rd., C, Sauk City. A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of service. Interment will be held in the Honey Creek Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Denzer United Methodist Church, Badger Honor Flight, or the Good Neighbor Clinic.
