Obituary

WYNONA LYNN COBURN, age 71, of Prairie du Sac, WI finished her earthly journey on January 5, 2023, at her home with her husband, Bruce Johnston, by her side. Born on Wednesday, August 29, 1951 in Dubuque, IA, she was the daughter of Leland and Madonna (Mahoney) Udelhofen of Lancaster, WI in Grant County, who were both born and raised in Wisconsin.

Her dream was to become a Registered Nurse. Graduating from Lancaster High School (WI) in 1970, she left Lancaster on a Greyhound bus and headed to Madison to work and put herself through college in order to achieve her dream of becoming a nurse. Upon receiving her Bachelor's degree, she started working as Registered Nurse at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI, and continued there until she retired in 2018.

Known to all of her friends, family, patients and fellow health professionals as "Wonnie", she loved her work and loved to read. Nursing was her passion and she fulfilled her life's dream with selfless devotion to her patients and community. After retirement, Wonnie cherished her local friendships and visits with Rene Kolcovich, Jeanette from work, and her cousin, Kim.

Wonnie married Mr. Gary Coburn and had a son, Jesse Coburn, who gave her a precious grandson, Jackson, whom she adored. Her marriage to Gary Coburn ended in divorce. Wonnie later met Bruce Johnston and they married in 2012.

Wonnie is predeceased by her father, Leland, her cousin, Kim, and her younger sister, Carol.

Survivors include her mother, Madonna, her husband of 10 years, Bruce Johnston, son, Jesse of Wisconsin, sister, Laurie (Gary) of Naples, FL, brother, Patrick of West Palm Beach, FL, brother, Mike of Potosi, WI, sister, Sherri (John) of Platteville, WI, sister, Theresa (Patrick) of Michigan, brother, Larry (Janice) of Lancaster, WI, and many more cousins, nieces and nephews.

Final arrangements are still being made. However, in lieu of flowers, memorial expressions of sympathy may be made to Meriter Hospital.
